
Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is the most attractive beach in Sri Lanka which is situated in the eastern province, about 320km away from Colombo. this beach is an especially popular surf spot and is also the only international surf competition venue in Sri Lanka. It is also rated as one of the top ten surf destinations in the world. The surfing season in Arugam Bay starts in April and ends in October. Many foreigners, as well as locals, like to visit Arugam bay in this season very much.

Apart from surfing, there are some other places like Panama, Muhudu maha vihara, Kumana Bird sanctuary, Lahugala national park, Crocodile rock, Pottuvil point...etc popular among visitors.
HIGHLIGHTS

Panama
Panama Beach is one of the best known and most beloved beaches in Sri Lanka especially popular for beach camping.

Crocodile rock
The Crocodile Rock is 2 km south of Arugam Point along another deserted beach to Kudakallliya. Elephants, crocodiles, and eagles are common wild life there.

Kudumbigala
Kudumbigala is a monastery of more than 200 cave accommodations. According to the historical facts, this monastery was built during the time of king Devanampiyatissa.

Kumana Bird Sanctuary
Kumana is most popular for birds especially migratory waterfowl and wading birds. Kumana is contiguous with Yala National Park.

Lahugala National park
The Lahugala park is best known for its elephants. Lahugala wildlife safari is another attractive thing in Arugam Bay.

Muhudu Maha Viharaya
The Muhudu Maha Viharaya situated near Pottuvil is over 2,000 years old. As the legend and some folk stories Vihara Maha Devi has landed in this area.
